Log Home Restoration: Two Of The Most Asked Questions from New Log Home Owners
The following log home restoration questions are two of the most often asked by new log home owners. By new I mean, new to them and may or may not be a newly constructed log home. Oftentimes the owner or future owner knows very little about a log home except they love the look, they want one and what they have read in a log home magazine. {Read More}

Virginia Roof Cleaning Contractor
Virginia Roof Cleaning Contractors are springing up everywhere trying to address the growing problem of roof stains. These stains are primarily an airborne algae recognized as Gloeocapsa Magma.
When choosing your contractor, there are a few things to keep in mind before allowing someone to attempt cleaning your asphalt shingle roof.
First and foremost, ask for a copy of their insurance. It should clearly state "roof cleaning" coverage in the policy. Pressure washing contractors carry a different type policy than the typical remolding, painting and other service related contractors.
Second. What type of cleaning chemicals will be used. There is debate as to the proper cleaning compounds and methods used to properly clean asphalt shingles.
Taskmasters uses chlorine, TSP and other proprietary additives with a no pressure application.
The A.R.M.A. ( American Roofing Manufactures Association) and G.A.F. the country's leading shingle manufacture, recommends a chlorine solution applied lightly so as not to damage the shingle and to throughly rinse the solution from the roof.
Sodium Hydroxide is a strong degreaser widely used by some contractors.
This method is not acceptable in my professional opinion. The chemical itself is used for stripping log homes, decks and docks as well as for cleaning and removing grease from dumpster pads, drive thrus, engines and you may have even used it to clean your oven. It breaks down the petroleum in the asphalt which in turn loosens the granulars on the shingles. The end result is a deteriorated and damaged shingle.
Third. Does the company project a polite and professional attitude? Is the representative dressed neatly and responsive to your request? Are vehicles clean and orderly? Is the equipment professional and in good working order? And probably most important, do you have an overall good first impression?
At Taskmasters we strive to do the very best and professional job possible. We love our work, but take it very seriously. When we finish your project our goal is to hopefully have you as one of our references and long time customers.
If you have any questions, give us a call, we love to help!
